MADISON-F.E. “Mac” McNally, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on Sept. 14, 1923, in Geneva, Ill. Mac married June Hamilton on Jan. 15, 1949. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Southwest Pacific Theater. Mac was proud of his membership in the Boy Scouts, earning his Eagle badge at the age of 16, and was troop leader of Troop 6. He retired in 1985 after 36 years of service with the Wisconsin State Patrol Communications Bureau. Mac was selfless and spent many hours giving back to others volunteering with a variety of community activities. His favorite hobby was Ham Radio and spending time with his family.

Mac is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, June; children, Edward (Pam) and Kathlyn (Michael) Steele; five grandchildren, Meg (Kevin) Porter, Garrett McNally, Sara Steele, Kate (Mitch) Louther, and Beth (Erek) Kucher; three great grandchildren, Brady, Riley, and Liam, and one on the way; brothers, Lyle and Edward (Phyllis); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Clark; step-father, Alfred Clark; and step-brother, Robert Clark.

Funeral services for Mac will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, with Rev. John Swanson presiding. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethel Horizons Foundation, Bethel Media Ministry, or to the Badger Honor Flights.
