Ethel Olson, 80, of Richland Center died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Pine Valley Healthcare. She was born February 18, 1932 the daughter of Clarence and Ella (Covey) McCarthy in Gotham. On January 26, 1950 Ethel married Harold Olson in Richland Center. Together they farmed near Avoca for 30 years before both going to work to the State of Wisconsin from 1977 until her retirement in 1984. After Harold’s death in 1994 Ethel began to go on train trips all over the United States. She enjoyed sending cards to everyone she knew for any reason as a way to brighten other peoples days.
Ethel is survived by four daughters, Sylvia Remick of Federal Way, WA, Brenda (Dennis) Honer of Richland Center, Susan (Barry) DeLap of Richland Center, Diane Cox of Richland Center, 7 grandchildren, Darren Honer, Rebecca Hines, Renae Hines, Edward Manning, Bradley Manning, Jaymie (Grant) Bruckner, and Justin DeLap, 2 great-grandchildren, Shelby Weitzel and Joleigh Manning, 2 sisters; Ann Jensen of Richland Center, Margaret (George) Draper of Texas, sister-in-laws; Irene Olson of Richland Center, Marian Olson of Mazomanie, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Ella, husband Harold, grandchildren, Bonnie Honer and Jimmy DeLap, and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Button Cemetery. Friends may call at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.
