MADISON-Esther L. Storlid, age 93, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013, at her home in Madison.
She was born on May 10, 1919, in the Township of Newport, the daughter of Andrew and Emma (Gregerson) Swansby. She married Robert Radant who preceded her in death in April 1950. Esther then married Ivan Storlid, who preceded her in death in September 1975.
She served as a chef, housekeeper, and attendant to several Madison families that regarded her as a part of their own families. Esther was known for her legendary gatherings, especially on Christmas Eve. She was a proud supporter of the Green Bay Packers and the UW Badgers.
Esther is survived by her children, Ole Storlid of Madison, Seri Harris of Madison, and Mark (Teresa) Storlid of Cottage Grove; six grandchildren, Theresa (Chris) Hein, Jeff (Melinda Rake) McMahon, Tamara (Glen) Parks, Tenisha (Manasseh) Garner, Tory Storlid, and Kayla Storlid; great-grandchildren, Connor and Dillon Hein, Siettah and Adia Parks, and Tory Storlid; special son-in-law, Bernard (Judy) McMahon; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Radant and Ivan Storlid; daughter, Rita McMahon; brothers, Carl, Nelvin, Gerhardt, and Arnold Swansby; and sisters, Olga Bergersen and Elizabeth Hughes.
Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from Noon until the time of service on Thursday.
