STOUGHTON-Erling B. Linnerud, age 84, of Stoughton, went to be the Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2012. He was born on April 8, 1928, in the town of Christiana, the son of Eilert and Bergloit (Enger) Linnerud. Erling was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army overseas, from 1946 until 1949. He met Mary Jane Lee and they were united in marriage on Aug. 21, 1953. Together they raised five children in the Stoughton area. He worked for Farmers Union Co-op and later farmed. Erling enjoyed camping and working on the farm. He was a member of the VFW and was also active in starting churches in the area. He loved spending time with his family and thought it was very important to take a family vacation every year. He loved going to Norway. Erling’s passion in life was talking about the Lord.
Erling is survived by his daughters, Vicky (Phil) Elsing and Jeanne (David) Kojo; sons, Gerry and Jamie; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Oscar (Shirley) and Lloyd (Lois); and sister, Beatrice Morrison. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane; son, Randy;
brothers, Harold, Arthur, Norman, Robert and Earl; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Hwy. 51, Stoughton, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug 1,2012, with Pastor Scott Linnerud presiding. Burial will be at Graves Cemetery with military honors, followed by a luncheon at American Legion Post 59, 803 N. Page St., Stoughton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Erling will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
