Elizabeth Ann Novinski, age 84 of Blanchardville died on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Dodgeville. She was born on January 3, 1928 in rural Fennimore, Wisconsin to Leo and Anna (Straka) Fuerstenberg. She attended St. Mary’s Parochial school and graduated from the Fennimore High School in 1946. She was married on November 4, 1953 at St. Mary’s in Fennimore to Dennis Novinski. Elizabeth lived in Montfort, Wisconsin where she was co-owner of the Montfort Mail, a weekly newspaper. In 1960 she and her husband Dennis moved to Blanchardville where she was co-owner of the Blanchardville Blade. She worked beside her husband all her married life in the printing and publishing field. Elizabeth was involved in the Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Blanchardville, the Altar Sodality, was a past president of the Madison Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, was involved in the Blanchardville Women’s Club, was a past secretary and president of the Pecatonica School Board, was active in the Blanchardville Chamber of Commerce, and chaired the Blanchardville Chicken Barbecue for many years.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Dennis Novinski of Blanchardville; five daughters, Agnes (Thomas) Hughes, of Cassville, Cecilia Novinski of Cochrane, Geralyn Novinski of Cobb, Virginia (Robert) McGowan of Blanchardville, and Elizabeth “Bets” (Rick) Olson of Ripon; one sister, Florence (Don) Janzen of Cashton; two sister-in-laws, Lola Fuerstenberg of Kenosha, and Mary Ann Fuerstenberg of Cashton; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, George Gerard Novinski; and 3 brothers, Leonard, Henry and Robert (and his wife Jean) Fuerstenberg.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville. Father Tom Kelley, a family relative, of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cross Planes will officiate. A funeral lunch will follow the service at the Dobson-Johnson American Legion Post in Blanchardville. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fennimore. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville and Wednesday for an hour before the service at the church.
