OREGON-Edith G. Foster, age 84, of Oregon, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Sienna Crest in Oregon. She was born on Aug. 1, 1928, in New York, the daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Garrahy) Johnson. Edith graduated from Hunter College in New York City and received her Master’s Degree in Dietetics from Syracuse University. She married Glen B. Foster on Feb. 14, 1956, in the Bronx, N.Y. After their marriage, she and Glen made their home in Syracuse, N.Y. and Edith worked for the State of New York as a registered dietician retiring in 1986. She remained interested in nutrition even after her retirement. Edith was a member of the Constantia Center Baptist Church in New York and Stoughton Baptist Church. She was a very friendly and outgoing person who enjoyed continued study of the Bible and travelling.
Edith is survived by her children, Dorothy (Ralph) Gable of Oregon, Ann (Roger) White of Denver, Colo., Joan (George) Stefun of New Carrollton, Md., and Louise Cooke of Rothschild; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Timothy, Kristin, Michelle, Melissa, Ashley, Elizabeth, and Jason; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Rhianna, Evelyn, and Josiah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Margaret Johnson; grandparents, Patrick and Delia Garrahy; aunt, Anna Garrahy; husband, Glen, in 2006; and grandson, Jonathan Patrick Gable.
Funeral services for Edith will be held at SIENNA CREST ASSISTED LIVING, 981 Park St., Oregon, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, with Pastor Mark Weiss presiding.
Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
