MADISON-Earl C. Mavis, age 90, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at his home.

He was born on April 20, 1922, in Madison, the son of William and Alvina (Yahn) Mavis. Earl graduated from Madison Business School and worked at Kindschi Leather Co. He served in the U.S. Army Aircorp in Saipan, Iwo Jima, Tinian. After his return, Earl married Dorothy Strobush and together they raised their family. Earl retired in 1987. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and made several cross country trips and cruises. Earl also loved gardening and going to his favorite restaurants with friends and family. He was a loving, generous and caring man. Earl was a member of Lakeview Moravian Church.

He is survived by his sons, Joe (Marilyn) of Sun City, Ariz. and Steven (Norma) of Pasadena, Calif.; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Lilah, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Jarred, Calvin, and Brianna. He was preceded in death by his wife; and granddaughter, Lisa.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, with the Rev. Staci Marrese-Wheeler presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
