Madison-Douglas William Brown, 84, Madison, Wisconsin died on March 21, 2013 at St. Mary’s Care Center. He was born to the late Elmer and Stella (Hayden) Brown on April 30, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI. Doug graduated from Division High School in Milwaukee and received a BA in Engineering from the University of Madison. He married Betty Ann Schlough from Mazomanie, on July 30, 1955 and they lived together in Middleton, Wisconsin where together they raised 11 children. Doug served in the United States Army from 1946 until 1948. Doug worked as a construction estimator until his retirement working with Anthony Grignano Construction and Orville E. Madsen Construction.

Doug was an active member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Middleton, Wisconsin along with a member of the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Over the last several years, he enjoyed organizing the annual golf outing in memory of Monsignor Joseph P. “Pat” Higgins. He also enjoyed organizing the annual plant sale for Mother’s Day which benefits the Knights of Columbus. Doug enjoyed camping, boating, and spending time on the waters of Lake Michigan, but truly treasured most the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Doug is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Ann Brown, eight children including Tim (Nancy) Brown, Suzanne Brown, Ann Brown, Alice Bach, David Brown, William D (Debra Hannah) Brown, Jane (Mark) Dreckmann and Jennifer (Sergio) Muniz. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren including Kristin and Kelly Brown, Molly and Lily Wieringa, Ian Bach, Katie and Tom Casucci, Nicole, Jake and Wayne Brown, Michael Wilcox and Sergio P. Muniz and one great-grandchild Aiden Brown. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Elmer and Doug’s twin brother Donald J Brown. He is also preceded in death by three of his 11children - Michael Patrick Brown, Cynthia Jean Brown and Mary Jean Casucci.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Post 4549 of Middleton. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare and to St. Mary’s Care Center.
