Dorothy C. DeBuhr, 98, of Platteville, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville. Rev. Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Dorothy was born on May 10, 1914 in Big Patch, Smelser Township, Wisconsin, the daughter of H.L. “Roy” and Catherine (Wilkinson) Spink. She was united in marriage to Harry DeBuhr on March 15, 1941 in Big Patch. Dorothy was a school teacher for six years teaching in Bagley, Hurricane and Cornelia rural schools. She and Harry farmed in Big Patch until they moved to Platteville in 1979. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Peace where she served on the church council, ladies aid and taught Sunday school for many years. She served on the Big Patch School Board. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, traveling, needle work, and doing seamstress work.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Harry of Platteville; three children, Dick (Sharyn) DeBuhr of Seymour, WI; Lois Radloff of Platteville; Bill (Nona) Debuhr of Selah, WA; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mildred Richardson of Platteville. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Gene Radloff and sister, Emily Sargent.
