MADISON/EAU CLAIRE-Donald N. “Don” Green, age 87, of Madison, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, in Eau Claire. He was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Mosinee to George “Norman” and Marie (Teidemann) Green. He graduated from Mosinee High School in 1943 and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1950 with a degree in Business Administration. Don married his wife of 58 years Theresa “Terry” Wisnewski from Edgar on May 22, 1954, at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church in Westport.

Don was employed at Ohio Medical Products in Madison for 32 years as a Gas Sales Account Manager. Additionally, he prepared tax returns at H&R Block for 21 seasons. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during WWII in 1943 and proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant radar mechanic in the 402D Bombardment Squadron stationed in Guam until the end of the war.

Don lived his college years on Breese Terrace across the street from Camp Randall stadium and was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity there. He was an avid Badger Football fan since 1947 and a season ticket holder for more than 60 years. He said his only ‘vice’ was going to every Badger home game, which he enjoyed doing with his friends and family. Don was a long-time member of the Madison Elks Club and enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships he and Terry made there. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Monona. He also supported the American Red Cross by donating blood at the Monona Community Center for many years. When asked about hobbies, he’d reply, "My family is my hobby." He spent many hours with his children and grandchildren, and Terry was always his favorite dance partner.

He is survived by his brother Howard (Ruth) Green of Wausau; wife Terry; daughter Debra (Don) Motzing of Eau Claire; son Norman (Elizabeth) Green of Eau Claire; ; daughter Lisa Conway of Verona; six grandchildren, Graham (Caitlin) Motzing, Noel Motzing, Jacob Green, Madelyn Green, Anthony Conway and Melanie Conway; one great-grandchild, Lyle Motzing; and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Margaret Erickson (Menomonie) and Helen Thompson (Milwaukee).

Don was a fun-loving, gentle, unselfish husband, father and friend who put others’ needs before his own. He had a light-hearted sense of humor and always a joke or two (or 30!) to share. He will truly be missed.
