VERONA-Donald Housley, 67, of Verona, passed away on March 13, 2013, of natural causes. His family and care givers were by his side when he peacefully left this world to be with the Lord. He was born to Clinton and Naomi (Franke) Housley in Battle Creek, Mich., on July 15, 1944. Don attended numerous elementary and junior high schools growing up and graduated high school at Baraboo Senior High. He married Diane (Deubig) Housley in 1970, and they moved to Milwaukee. Don was a unique and independent person. Understood by few, yet loved by many with mercy and compassion. He struggled with mental illness through much of his lifetime and lived until his time of passing at a wonderful care facility, Badger Prairie, in Verona Wisconsin. His love of the Lord rang through as he carried his Bible around asking if people knew Jesus. He was often reading or quoting scripture on his good days.
Don is survived by his son, Mark Housley and wife, Cheryl (Cowan) Housley of Stoughton; his grandchildren, Madeline and Parker Housley of Stoughton; his brother, Dean Housley and wife, Jan (Fowler) Housley of Lodi; his sister, Gloria (Housley) Morrison and husband, Jeff Morrison of Morrisville N.C.; his niece, Janean (Housley) Glass; and his nephews Clint Housley, Nathan Morrison, and Christopher Morrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Naomi Housley.
Don’s family is overwhelming grateful to Agrace personnel, the incredible and resilient CNAs and professional nursing staff at Badger Prairie in Verona, and the ever faithful, Joseph Foth.
