Donald G. McGuire, age 83, of Madison passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Apr. 3, 2013. He was born on May 10, 1929, in Highland to John N. and Viola (Gottschall) McGuire. He married Marilyne Zins of Spring Green on Aug. 19, 1959, at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church. Donald lived on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army. He served in Germany during the Korean War. Upon his return, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. Donald enjoyed gardening, camping, and was an avid sports fan. He especially loved supporting and attending his grandchildren’s events. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyne; children, Kevin McGuire, Rhonda (Mark) Wendricks, and Michael (Siobhan) McGuire; grandchildren, Darren, Danielle, Dylan, Daniel, Mason, and Lucia; sisters, Eileen Dax and Patricia (Robert) Wardell; brother, Paul (Jan) McGuire; brother-in-law, Allan (Mary) Zins, sisters-in-law, Debra Zins, Magdalene, Alice, Evangeline, Carole, Joann, and Ann McGuire; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Kathlyn Mary; his parents; sisters, Elsper (Ray) Hach, Carol (Joseph) Greenheck, and Wanda Lou McGuire in infancy; brothers, Clyde, Kenneth, John, Dale (Delores), Robert, Rodney (Marion), Howard, and Lowell McGuire; and brother-in-law, J.B. Dax.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 404 E. Main St., Madison, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Apr. 8, 2013, with Monsignor Kevin Holmes presiding. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 7, 2013, as well as one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. The family would like to express their gratitude to the UW Hospital TLC staff and to Monsignor Holmes for his spiritual guidance.

Donald was a devoted husband, loving father, and enthusiastic grandfather. His passage into eternity was in love and peace and his spirit lives on in all of us. He will be remembered forever for his kind, gentle soul.

Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 7, 2013, as well as one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Service:
A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 404 E. Main St., Madison, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Apr. 8, 2013, with Monsignor Kevin Holmes presiding.

Cemetery:
Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
