David Lee Widmer, Age 67 of Argyle lost his long courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at his home with his loved ones by his side.

David was born on September 15, 1949 in Monroe to wonderful parents, Arthur and Norene (Beach) Widmer. He graduated from Argyle High School in 1967. He served in the United States Army from 1971 until he was honorably discharged to care for the family farm in 1972. He married Cheryl Tyler on November 11, 1972 and the couple farmed until 1976. David then worked for Advance Transformer(four years), Iroquois Foundry (four years), and retired as a truck driver and diesel mechanic in 2012. David always had to be busy so following his retirement he helped his next door neighbors with farm work. He dearly loved his family and his favorite pastimes were playing with his grandchildren and working on demo cars with his children.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Cheryl Widmer of Argyle; four wonderful children, Damon (Ashley) Widmer, Dawn (Rick) Hanenberger, Dustin (Brandi) Widmer, and Darci (Justton) Plaskey; 11 grandchildren, Ashton(Megan), Kadence, Tessa, Parker, Dezmond, Destiny, Laney, Devon, Sophia, Emelia, and Lincoln; one great granddaughter, Mersadies; his parents, Arthur and Norene of Arizona; six sisters, Sandy (Bob) Waefler of Monroe, LouAnn (Tom) Golackson of Argyle, Nancy (Dean) Ayen of Delavan, Mary (John) Ubert of Monroe, Lynn (Joe) Koeger of Missouri, Jodi (Alan) Ray of Arizona; a brother, Duane Widmer of Arizona; and many other loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Theodos; and his brother, Danny Widmer.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in David’s name to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
