Darell "Speed" H. Verwiebe, age 76, of Janesville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born in Sparta, WI on June 6, 1936, the son of Herbert and Norma (Popp) Verwiebe. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kendall, WI. Darell graduated from Kendall High School in 1954, and served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 at Ft. Benning, GA. He met and married the love of his life, Vera A. Keller on Dec. 6, 1964, in Janesville. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter Beth in 1965, and a son Darin in 1968. Darell worked 44 years for General Motors in Janesville before retiring in 1999. They retired to their lake home near Boulder, WI, before moving to a condominium at Cedar Crest on Aug. 6, 2011. He enjoyed flying, camping, fishing, traveling and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Verwiebe; daughter, Beth (Duane) Davidson of Poynette, son, Darin (friend, Marsha) Verwiebe of Sturgeon Bay; beloved grandchild: Zachary Darell Davidson; step grandsons, Duane, and Lucas Davidson; mother, Norma Verwiebe of Tomahawk, WI; brother, Gale (Anne) Verwiebe of Mayville; dear nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, and step grandson, Daniel.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, Janesville with Rev. Richard Lehmann officiating followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. A visitation will be held on Saturday, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Private family interment will be in South Ridge Cemetery, Kendall, WI. In Lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Peace Lutheran for (WELS) Scholarship Fund. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
