Dale M. Rupp, 77, of Platteville, died on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville. Father Faustino Ruiz will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, where there will be a parish rosary at 3:45 at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Dale M. Rupp Memorial Fund. Dale was born on May 7, 1935 the son of Frank and Leona (Cottingham) Rupp in Epworth, IA. He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Gansemer on November 16, 1954 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Rickardsville, IA. Dale went to school in Epworth. He worked in Dubuque at the Dubuque Pack and John Deere. In 1965 he moved to Wisconsin and started farming in Grant County. After Dale retired in 2004 he worked part time at Roh’s Auto Mart and Steve’s Auto World in Platteville. His hobbies included tractor pulling, watching NASCAR races, and playing cards with his friends at the VFW Club. Along with his wife, they played euchre two nights a week at the Elk’s and VFW Clubs. While he was in the hospital his grandchildren always cheered him up.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, Cathy (EJ) Skaife of Platteville; Cindy (Randy) White of Rockford, IL; Mark (Cindy) Rupp of Lancaster; Mike (Ann) Rupp of Platteville; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Eric) Mohr, Robin (Julie) White, Kurtis (Bri Smith) Skaife, Andy (Britney Murphy) Rupp, Raven (Cedric Porch) White, Christina (Jason McGuire) Skaife, Bradley Rupp; seven great-grandchildren, Jordon Johnson, Jada Witek, Connor White, Tayzha Porch, Tyler Porch, Aiden Rupp, Chase Englin; two sisters, Dorothy Coates of Dubuque, IA; Elaine (Richard) Hueneke of Bellevue, IA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian Rupp of Monticello, IA; Ron Otis of Buena Park, CA; Donita Clendenen of Dubuque, IA; Ann and Jerome Adams of Cuba City, WI; Joyce and Kenneth Schmitt of Sherrill, IA; Nick Schmitt of Sherrill, IA; Bob and Bonnie Gansemer of Platteville; special friend Gary Loeffelholz of Platteville; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn White and Donna Otis; two brothers, Howard Rupp and Merlin Rupp; father and mother-in-law, George and Christina Gansemer; sisters-in-law, Cel Rupp, Dorothy Schrobilgen, Carol Schmitt; brothers-in-law, Bob Schrobilgen, Lloyd Clendenen, Gene White, Delmont Coates, and Vince Wernimont.

Thank you to Angela Grass, Patty Reuter and all of the staff at Manor Care for the excellent care given to Dale. We would like to acknowledge the excellent care Dale received at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison on both the 5th and 8th floors and also his last few days at Manor Care in Platteville.
