Clayton Warren

MIDDLETON-Clayton L. Warren was born on May 5, 1928 in Richland County and passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at age 84, the son of Raymond A. and Amy (Gudgeon) Warren. He attended Hillsboro Schools, graduating in 1946. He was very active in sports in high school and also while serving in the United States Navy; receiving the bronze medal award for individual sports skill competition in basketball for Destroyers, Pacific Fleet in 1947. After his Navy discharge in 1948, he came to Madison and met his future wife, Arlene M. Guck. They were united in marriage on September 10, 1949. Clayton started what would be a lifetime in furniture sales and management at Gruber Furniture in Middleton on Feb.14, 1949. He truly enjoyed all the past years in the Madison business community and also at the Comfort Shop for many years. Clayton has been a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Middleton for 64 years and served on the church council from 1965 thru 1967.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene; and children, Debra Ashworth (Scott Chatman) of Verona, Donald (Deborah) of Fennimore and Diane of Madison; five granddaughters, Shannon (Rob) Davis, Holly (Jayson) Werra, Melissa (Eric) Ward, Jessica (Michael) Helms and Hillary Zemke; 12 great-grandchildren, Colby and Owen Davis, Lydia, Audrey and Charlotte “Charlie” Werra, Tanner and Colton Zemke, Aidan and Tenley Ward and Trenton, Dominic and McKenna Helms; two brothers, Raymond (Beatrice) of Grafton, Kenneth (Mary) of Kenosha and a sister, Mary Schiller of Neenah. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law and several other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKE’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 2:30 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2013, with the Reverend Heather Lampert presiding. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:30 PM until the time of the service at the church.

There is perfect Joy and Beauty
In this everlasting light
All the pain and grief is over
Every restless tossing passed
I am now at Peace forever
Safely home in heaven at last-

Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:30 PM until the time of the service at the church.
