COTTAGE GROVE/MONONA-Catherine M. Sargent, age 92, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare surrounded by her family. She was born on Feb. 16, 1920, in Junction City, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Mancl. She married Loyal Sargent and they enjoyed more than 70 years together. Catherine was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, a member of the St. Ann’s Society, Catholic Women’s Association, Catholic Order of Foresters (serving as treasurer), Monona Rhythm Band, and a volunteer for St. Mary’s Auxiliary. Family and faith defined her life.
Catherine is survived by her children, Beverly (Joel) Morrison, Gerald (Laurie) Sargent, Marilyn (Dennis) Fuller, Patricia (Steven) Olson, Sandra (Jack) Finkel, Mary (John) Harker, Sue (Donald) Guess, Shelley (Michael) Schwartz, Julie (Rick) Johnson, and Deanne (Andrew) Casey; son-in-law, James Anderson; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; a sister, Ann Wunrow; nieces and nephews; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal; her parents; daughter, Karen Anderson; two infant sons, Robert and Kenneth; four sisters, Theresa, Helen, Verna, Marie; and two brothers, Joseph and George.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding.
Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
