Carl D. Freeman, 78 of Mauston passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
Carl was born in Dresbach, Minnesota on August 27, 1934 the son of Irvin and Lilah Freeman.
Carl and his family moved to Mauston in 1941. Carl attended school in Mauston and following graduation enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served 2 years in Florida and 2 years in Massachusetts. While in Massachusetts he met Peg Walsh and they were married in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1957. Following his service in the Navy they moved to Rochester, Minnesota and Carl worked for IBM as an advisory manufacturing engineer for 34 years. Carl retired in 1991 and he and Peg spent a year traveling the United States in their motor home. They returned to Mauston and built their home in 1993. Carl was an avid fisherman while living on the Lemonweir River.
Carl is survived by his wife Peg, three children Jacqueline, Mitch (Laurie) and Chris, grandchildren Benjamin Bacon, Jennifer (Justin) Brunsvold, Tony Freeman, step-grandchildren Justine, John, Christian and Tanner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Al and a sister Martha.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Crandall Funeral Home, Mauston.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Burton-Koppang American Legion Post 89, in Mauston, Wisconsin.
