Brett Macklem, 18, of Whitewater, passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2016.
Brett was born on February 21, 1998 in Fort Atkinson, to Karen Macklem and Alan Bohling.
He was a class of 2016 graduate from Whitewater High School.
Brett was drawn to race cars at a young age. He would take any chance he could to get out to the track. Finally, the day came where he was able to get out there and race like he had always dreamt of. He enjoyed racing but loved destroying them even more. The many hours of hard work eventually paid off when he participated in his first demolition derby and placed 2nd. He was very proud of this achievement and the trophy he received; the smile on his face that day will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his parents; siblings, Natalie (Justin Veale) Macklem, Abigail Macklem, Jill Bohling, James (Mallory) Bohling and Joseph (Erica Stockfish) Bohling; grandmother, Helen Macklem; step-grandmother, Roberta Bohling; aunts and uncles, Diane (Mark) Kincaid, Christina (Dennis) Hummel, Kimberly (Rick) Chapman and Kenneth "Jake" Prevette. He is also survived by one niece and two nephews, many cousins, and all of his friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone that was lucky enough to have met him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Art Macklem and his paternal grandpar-ents, Jerald and Judith Bohling.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Whitewater. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. on Friday at the church until time of service.
