Betty Jeanne (Innis) Johnson of Onalaska made her final journey home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 28. She commenced her journey peacefully and surrounded by family.

She was born on March 7, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Rex and Mary (Hammond) Innis. She grew up in Milroy, Indiana and later married Loren G. Johnson of Westby on March 22, 1946. He preceded Betty in death on July 14, 2004. They were married for 58 years.

In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by their infant daughter, Jill Jeanette Johnson, her parents, brother and two sisters.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Gerald (Sandy) Johnson of Coon Valley, Mary Jo (Dan) Stern of Melrose, and Julie (Vic) Becker of Apple Valley, Minnesota, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Betty was a devoted Mother and a consummate homemaker. Her strong faith guided and sustained her throughout her life on earth. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a tireless volunteer at the Bethany On Cass and Bethany Riverside care facilities for over 30 years. She was a voracious reader all her life.

A private service will be held with Pastor Ted Dewald officiating and burial at Coon Prairie Cemetery in Westby.

Those who wish to remember Betty may send memorials in her name to The Salvation Army and Sugar Creek Bible Camp.

Betty’s family thanks Dr. Sanda Cepoi, as well as the care team at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation Center in La Crosse who, with great kindness and compassion, took exceptional care of Betty in her final months. The family also thanks the staff and residents of Laurel Manor in Onalaska for their kind friendship and support over the past years. “Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven...” Luke 6:23
