Betty J. Rawson, 93, of Platteville, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Friday, November 2, 2012 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. Rev. Michael Short will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Betty J. Rawson Memorial Fund. Betty was born on March 2, 1919 in Platteville, the daughter of Edward and Lela (Parrish) Shepherd. She was united in marriage to Dale L. Rawson on December 27, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1999. Betty and Dale farmed in Lima Twp. for 43 years. Betty was a CNA at the Platteville Hospital for twenty years working in obstetrics/ pediatrics and geriatrics. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. She liked to sew, knit, crochet, quilt, she liked to do Rosemaling, gardening, canning, and was an avid reader. She made over 300 Christmas stockings that she gave to family and friends. Betty loved being with her family which meant more than anything else to her.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Ed) Schelman of Rockton, IL; Susan (Earl) Shoemaker of Overland Park, KS; Cathryn (Frank) Harrington of Glenwood Springs, CO; Thomas (Carla) Rawson of Richland Center, WI; daughter-in-law, Carrie Rawson of Monroe, WI; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death also by her parents, two children, Roger in 2004 and Mary Williams in 2008, and a brother, Roger Shepherd.
