Ben A. Williams, age 94, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born in Chicago on December 5, 1917, the son of the late Alonzo and Anna (Glumske) Williams. Ben served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was married to Genevieve Gnewikow on June 20, 1939. He worked as a fireman and retired from Badger Ordinance. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and Sauk Prairie American Legion Post #167. He enjoyed gardening, visiting friends, traveling and cooking.

Survivors include a son, Brian (Diane) Williams of Prairie du Sac; a daughter, Marcia (James) Erickson of North Freedom; five grandchildren, Steven Williams, Stan Williams Jr., Kimberly Higgins, Jeffrey Williams and Brad Corrao; eight great-grandchildren and another expected; a sister, Mona Olsen of Muskego; two sisters-in-law, Irma Gnewikow of Merrimac and Fern Williams of Tomah; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; four sons, two infant sons, and Allen and Stanley Williams; three brothers, Rich, Lon and John; and a sister, Norma Necker.

A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2012, with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service.
