Beatrice E. Hallanger, age 94 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, WI.

A private service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Wisconsin Dells with burial in Prescott, Wisconsin at a later date.

Beatrice was born April 23, 1918 in Frederick, Wisconsin the daughter of Warren and Olive (Warren) Hansen. She was raised in Prescott where she worked with her father on the Prescott Journal newspaper, which he owned. Later she worked as a linotype operator for Brown and Bigelow Publishers in St. Paul.

Beatrice was married to John Hallanger on Dec. 11, 1941. Shortly after John enlisted in the Army and made it his career until his death in 1960. Throughout that time Bee grew accustomed to resettling the family at various army posts until John’s last assignment at Fort Harrison, near Indianapolis, Indiana. Bee was a member of the auxiliaries of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Minnesota to visit relatives and friends. Beatrice is survived by her son, John (Carolyn) Hallanger II, daughter, Kay Hallanger, and granddaughter, Joanna Hagan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Wesley Hansen.
