A. Marilyn Melvin, 80, of LaFarge died Friday, September 16, 2016 at her home. She was born January 13, 1936 on Maple Ridge, LaFarge, the daughter of George and Gladys (Parker) Miller. On April 18, 1954 Marilyn married Charles Melvin in South Carolina. After Charles’s discharge from the military the family returned to Wisconsin. In 1968 the family bought a farm near LaFarge. Marilyn was a very crafty woman who enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, canning and playing the piano. She enjoyed traveling with her family and adding to her teapot collection. Marilyn’s true love was her family, and they meant everything to her.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years Charles; six children: Deanna ‘Dee’ Millner of Boaz, Mark (Tina) Melvin of Lodi, LeaAnn (Kelly) Shird of LaFarge, Susan ‘Sue’ Melvin (Paul Fay) of Clifton, Patty ‘Pat’ Melvin of LaFarge, David (Mary) Melvin of LaFarge; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother: Duane (Kathie) Miller of Rockford, Il; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents George and Gladys, brother and sister-in-law Eldon and Beverly Miller, great-great-grandson Brennon Nemec, son-in-law Hank Millner, parents-in-law Basil and Esther Melvin.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the LaFarge Free Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Salem Ridge Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the LaFarge Free Methodist Church on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
