Zigmoint “Ziggy” Ziemek, age 85 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 with his family around him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Lyndon Station with Reverend John Reinke officiating. Burial will be at Lyndon Station Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at 10:30 A.M.
Ziggy was born June 1, 1927 in Heguish, Illinois the son of Walter and Anna (Szyika) Ziemek. They moved to the Lyndon Station area when he was 10 years old and began farming. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1945-1946 and returned to Lyndon Station and farmed. In May of 1957 he married Gertrude “Trudy” Hladon in Lyndon Station. Later he drove truck for a cement company and with his wife, Trudy he owned and operated the White Eagle Restaurant near Lyndon Station from 1972 until 1991.
Ziggy is survived by his wife, Gertrude “Trudy” of 56 years of marriage; daughter, Pam Travis of Bakersfield, CA; son, David Ziemek of Chandler, AZ; grandsons, Bryon Travis of Yorba Linda, CA and Matthew Ziemek in the U.S. Navy; granddaughter, Ashley Travis of Dalhart, TX and nephew, Rodney Ziemek of Indiana as well as brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Andrew “Andy” Ziemek and his brother, Chester Ziemek.
