Virgil A. “Dudley” Kosharek, age 84, of Highland passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Bloomfield Healthcare & rehab. following a long illness.
Dudley was born on May 28, 1929 in Castle Rock Township to Aldro and Christine (Rubado) Kosharek. He was a 1947 graduate of the Muscoda High School. Dudley married the former Rosella Michek on January 23, 1951 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Highland. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Robert-Kail American Legion Post #442. Dudley worked construction for Slobam; Dell & Bomkamp; and Fox until retiring at age 66. He was also a member of Ss. Anthony & Philip Parish and had served on the Highland Fire Department for many years. His hobbies included working with horses, woodworking and deer hunting but his greatest joy was time spent with family and friends especially at wedding dances.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Melvin; LaVerne and Aldro Jr. and two sisters, Anna Marie Grimm and Camilla Ford.
Dudley is survived by his wife, Rosella of Highland; nine children, David (Debbie) of Highland; Alan (Holly Laufenberg) of Highland; Lisa (Brad) Carter of Highland; Marcia (Alan) Butteris of Dodgeville; Christine (Jeff) Richgels of Highland; Cindy (Kevin) Martin of Highland; Kevin of Highland; Tim (Jennifer) of Highland and Jody Kosharek of Highland; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jean (Ray) Michek of Highland; a brother, Donald (Mary) Kosharek of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Mary Kosharek of Highland as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church in Highland with Fr. Jim Murphy officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday after 9:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to Dudley’s favorite charities.
