Thomas B. Ludlum, 68, of rural Belmont, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Belmont. Friends may call from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church where there will be a parish rosary at 4:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Thomas B. Ludlum Memorial Fund. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.

Tom was born on October 3, 1945 in Dodgeville, WI, the son of Basil and Viola (Rosemeyer) Ludlum. He was united in marriage to Diane Valstad on August 17, 1968 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dodgeville. Tom farmed in Belmont Township for many years and later drove school bus. He was an active member of St. Philomena Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years; four children, Troy (Brenda) Ludlum of Platteville; Tammy (Brian) Benoy of Stoughton, WI; Tessy (Sam) Noel of Waterloo, WI; and Tina (James) Freeman of Belmont; twelve grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, and Landon Ludlum, Sarah, Stacy, and Steven Benoy, Travis, Spencer, and Taylor Noel, Ashley, Morgan, and Thomas Freeman; mother-in-law, Irene Valstad of Mt. Horeb; sister, Mary Ann (Max) Fink of Belmont; brother, Larry (Sharon) Ludlum of Belmont; brother-in-law, Dennis Valstad of Ripon, WI; sister-in-law, Delores (Paul) Swedlund of Barneveld, WI; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
