Peter Robert Dooley, age 80, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013.

He was born in Milwaukee on December 29, 1932 to the late Thomas and Mildred (Dyskow) Dooley. Peter grew up in Milwaukee, where he was a frequent winner of the Milwaukee Journal Art Contests before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1952 where he studied journalism until 1956. He was employed by the Sauk Prairie Star and Community Publications before deciding to become a fulltime watercolor artist. While working for the Sauk Prairie Star he met Loretta Roessler and they married April 28, 1973. He studied art at Edgewood College and developed his talent, capturing moments of life and painting them into beautiful landscapes, seascapes, trains, and more. Peter loved fishing, being outdoors and the continual search for the perfect new car.

He is survived by his wife Loretta; 2 sisters, Barbara Meyer and Mary Andresek; 2 brothers, Thomas (Judy) and Michael (Sharon); 2 sisters-in-law, Maxine Hambrecht and Bernadine “Corky” McFarlane; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Adolph and Genevieve Roessler; brothers-in-law, Hal Hackl, Bruno Meyer, August Andresek, Del Hambrecht, Dick Mabbott, and Jim McFarlane; sisters-in-law, Mary (John) Flauger, Joan (Rodney) Premo, Mercedes (Hilary) Mack, Donna Faye (Sylvester) Statz, and Polly (Russ) Mallon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:30 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison St., Sauk City. A visitation will be held from 9:00am until 11:15am at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, with Military Rites accorded by Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694.
