Milton R. Herritz

Madison:Milton "Uncle Milty" Reginald Herritz, age 86, was called to his Heavenly Home on October 27, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Milton was born on July 11, 1927 to William and Erma Herritz in Honey Creek, where he lived on the family farm. Shortly after his 18th birthday Milton enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II where he served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne in the 188th Artillery Division. He served as part of the occupied forces in Japan during the years of 1945-1948. He received a certificate in cooking from the University of Tokyo and served as the head cook of his Airborne Division. While in Japan his unit continued to practice parachute jumps.

Milton married the love of his life, and devoted wife, Blanche Noel. They were married for 60 years. Milton worked at Oscar Mayer for over 45 years. He loved talking to his friends at Culver's. Milton also participated in the Badger Honor Flight on May 19, 2011.

Milton is survived by his wife, Blanche; his brothers, Virgil and Rollin Herritz; his children, Kathy Jean (Russ) Doebert of Plymouth, Pamela Krueger of Stoughton, Susan (David) Specht of DeForest, and Reggie Herritz of Madison. He is further survived by his grandchildren, April (Greg) Fischer, Adam Doebert, Ashley Doebert, Crystal Demmin, Richard and Sara Schmid, Rachael and Heather Specht, Suzie, Ryan, Zach and Jordan Herritz; great-grandchildren, Breck and Kaden Schmid, Blake and McKenna Olson, Aiden Specht, Kiley Schirmang, Sophie McClain-Herritz, and Noah Herritz.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenny, Ivan, Willard, Herschel, LaVerne and Donovan, sisters Bonita and Myrtle; and his granddaughter, Angela "Butch" Krueger, whom he has greatly missed since her death.

Milton's family wishes to thank Pastor Dean Kirst, Agrace HospiceCare, Dr. Jada, Hegeman, and Dr. Edgoose for all their care and support.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4001 Mandrake Road, with Pastor Dean Kirst Officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and also at church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at Lakeview Lutheran Cemetery.
