Merwyn Walker

MADISON-Merwyn Walker, age 80, beloved husband, dad and grandpa passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 11, 1936 in Hillsboro, the son of Hartley and Crilla (Caucutt) Walker. He grew up in the Hillsboro area and attended Burr Ridge County Grade School, as well as Hillsboro High School, graduating in 1954. After High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. Merwyn attended Madison Business College and graduated with an accounting degree. After graduation he worked for General Causality for 39 years as an accountant.

Merwyn was involved with three sons in little league baseball as the manager of the league. He was also a member of Madison Business Men's Association. He enjoyed deer hunting with his sons and friends and watching the Packers and Badgers. He also loved dancing to country music, traveling, golfing and baseball, having once tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals.

On June 14, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Novy. After retirement Merwyn and Shirley enjoyed traveling both together and with friends.

Merwyn is survived by his wife, Shirley; three sons, Scott (Tina) Walker, Steve (Londa) Walker and Stuart Walker; five grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Nick, Kayla and Keaton; and his sister, Angeline Boggiano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St, Monona, at 8:30 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, and at the church from 8 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday. A private burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Mary's ICU East for trying so hard to give Merwyn the quality of life he was so desperately looking for.
