Mary G. Richter, 102, of Avoca died Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Boscobel Area Healthcare.

She was born in Muscoda, September 3, 1911 the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Elskamp) Neff. Mary was married Arnold F. Richter who preceded her in death in January of 1990. After the marriage ended Mary moved to Avoca where she enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, tatting, and reading. She was a member of the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Group, driver escort. She also volunteered in the Foster Grandparent program in Avoca. She was awarded the Southwest Wisconsin Senior Citizen Award in 1996.

Mary is survived by twelve children: Arnold Richter of Muscoda, Leo Richter of Stoughton, Mary (Tom) Dickinson of Fredericksburg, VA, Bernice (Bill) Jacobs of Franklin, NC, Bertha (Logan) Swinehart of Avoca, Juanita Ziegler of Racine, Philip (Jane) Richter of Waterloo, IA, Tom Richter of Spring Green, Diane (Jim) Kron of Dittmer, MO, Alma (Ernest) Ward of Darlington, Pauline Richardson of Richland Center, Mark (Joan) Richter of Black Earth; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; sister, Florence Plautz of Fennimore; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Art, Frances, Walter, two sisters Marcella Brown, and Margaret Richter.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Peter Auer officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Avoca. Friends may call at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 9:00 AM until the departure to the church at 10:30 AM.
