Marilyn Rudersdorf, 82, of Richland Center died Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
She was born October 25, 1931 in Richland Center the daughter of Garnett and Clara (Scott) Turner. Marilyn married Douglas Rudersdorf on April 20, 1954 and the couple had four sons. Upon Douglas's death on September 24, 1969 she took on the overwhelming task of raising their four sons, ages 1, 8, 13, and 14 by herself.
Through her independent spirit Marilyn persevered by taking on many new tasks and skills from learning to drive to getting a job outside of the home. Marilyn worked at Sears as a bookkeeper, the Lone Rock and Avoca Banks, Burnstad's Market for 10 years, she managed the American Legion for 3 ½ years and was a central force in scheduling and coordinating the many events at the Community Center for almost two decades. She was very giving and spent several years volunteering in her community. Marilyn served as the first chairman of the Relay for Life (later GRACE) and in later years she served as a volunteer at the Richland Hospital and Schmitt Woodland Hills. Those who knew her will remember her strong opinion, her sense of humor and her generosity.
Marilyn is survived by her children: John (Sherri) Rudersdorf of Richland Center, Kevin (Judy) Rudersdorf of Richland Center, David (fiancée Mary David) Rudersdorf of Holman; four grandchildren: Joel, Kyle, Nichole and Nathaniel; two great-grandchildren: Hunter and Levi; brother and sisters: Evelyn Hall of Lone Rock Wilford (Phyllis) Turner of Janesville, Nancy (Ronald) Peterson of Monona, Susan (fiancé Ray) Thering of Spring Green; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Marilyn is proceeded in death by her husband Douglas, son Daniel and sister Margie Klinge.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
