Lavern E. Dynes age 92, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Columbus Community Hospital, Columbus.

She was born on August 10, 1920 to Ernest and Anna (Talg) Lutz in Wonewoc. Lavern graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1938. She was married to Richard Dynes on June 15, 1941. Lavern was employed as a cook for the Columbus School District for 23 years. She was also a great homemaker. She loved cooking for family dinners and was the official family cake decorator. She also found time for photography and for the quilting club at Olivet Church where she was a long-time active member.

Survivors include two sons, Leo (Dolores) of Columbus and David (Patricia) of Galien, MI; one daughter, Edith Tiedt of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Shawn Dynes, Shane (Midori) Dynes, William Dynes, Randall (Lisa) Tiedt, Tina (Samuel) Gardner, Davey Dynes; ten great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Fern Yohn of Columbus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard in 1981; three sisters, Eleanor Miller and twins, Erna and Erma Lutz; a sister-in-law, Margaret Oehlert; brothers-in-law, Bill Dynes, Lloyd Yohn, Heine Oehlert, Ferd Miller; nephews, Larry and Ross Oehlert, and Charles Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the OLIVET CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Columbus. Rev. Lee Zortman will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church on Thursday.
