Kenneth E. Hamilton, 77, of Belmont died on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, Darlington.
Friends may call from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a Celebration of Life at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Peter Berg will officiate. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery at a later date.

Kenneth was born on January 8, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Edward and Louise (Scharff) Hamilton. He was united in marriage to Caroline M. Finn on November 10, 1956 in Patch Grove, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on November, 28, 2010. Ken farmed in Belmont Twp. for many years. He was a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church, and was instrumental in starting the Men’s Prayer Breakfast that met on Tuesday mornings. Ken was a person who gave of himself to his community. He coached the Belmont Jets, girls softball team, before the WIAA had girls’ softball, he also was a leader for the Mound View 4-H for many years. He served on the Belmont Township board and Lafayette County Dairy Breakfast Board which he helped get started. He was active in the Belmont Lion’s Club where he served as an officer in many levels. He was an avid bowler, serving as Platteville Bowling Association President for thirty years. He also enjoyed hunting and playing cards.
He is survived by five children, Julie Miehe of Monona, WI; Gerald “Jerry” (Jody) Hamilton of Livingston, WI; Dan (Kim) Hamilton of Sussex, WI; Cheryl (Randy) Cushman of Belmont; Rachel Hamilton of Madison, WI; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard (Janet) Hamilton of Cuba City, WI; Donald Hamilton of Dubuque; two sisters, Virginia (Mel) Bertram of Platteville; Helen (Buzz) Rubie of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death also by his parents and granddaughter, Makayla Cushman.
