June Cameron Sanks age 92, died on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Columbus Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Columbus.
She was born on June 20, 1921 in Wichita Falls, TX to Donald and Bertha (Johnson) Cameron. After attending elementary and secondary schools in Texas, she did further study at Drake University in Des Moines and University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA.
At the time of her marriage to Robert Sanks on September 11, 1977 in Madison, June was employed by Verex Mortgage Insurance Company in Madison, retiring in 1986.
She was active in community and church organizations including Cub Scouts, Columbus Historical Preservation Committee, Columbus Hospital Auxiliary, Prudent Partners Investment Club, Morning Circle of the Columbus United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women of Bethany United Methodist Church of Madison.
Survivors include her husband Robert “Bob” of Columbus; two sons, Michael (Ildiko Beyer) Wehrman of Eugene, OR and Dan Wehrman of Madison; four grandchildren, Jia (Sam) Ramberg, Jennifer, Jesse and Elise Wehrman; a step-daughter, Barbara (Richard) Sherman of League City, TX; a step-son, David Sanks (Jill Sommers) of Madison; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Pansey Powell; one brother, Marvin Cameron; a step-daughter, Carol Sandfort.
A Memorial Gathering will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the COLUMBUS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 222 S. Dickason Blvd. Columbus, followed by a time to share memories and fellowship.
