Frank W. Shadewald, 80, of Muscoda died suddenly at his home on Saturday, November 9, 2013.

Frank leaves behind numerous loving friends and relatives. Frank was a giant, known for his contribution to his community, particularly to the development and restoration of the Ho-Chunk ancient mounds, commonly known as ‘Franks Hill,’ in the town of Eagle.

Frank was born in Richland Center on December 12, 1932 the son of Archie and Zola (McClary) Shadewald. He graduated from Richland Center High School and UW Madison. Frank served in the US Army Corp of Engineers, during the Korean War Period. He farmed for many years, an avid gardener and story teller.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Basswood Union Church with Pastor Duane Thomas officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Muscoda American Legion. Friends may call at the Basswood Union Church on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
