Eva M. Beining, 96, of Platteville died on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Westview Methodist Church, Platteville. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Eva M. Beining Memorial Fund.

Eva was born May 1, 1917 in Elk Grove Township, Lafayette County the daughter of Fred and Sophie (Riechers) Kettler. She was united in marriage to Carmen A. J. Beining on September 3, 1966. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2003. In 1923 Eva’s family moved from the farm in Elk Grove to Platteville, on North Second Street. Eva attended the old Brick School, then the upper grades and High School at the old Platteville High School on Second Street, graduating in 1935. She attended the State Teachers College, Platteville, as it was known then, graduating in 1939. She taught for a few years, and then worked at Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee, Rindlaub Electric, Platteville. Eva worked for 26 years in the Business Office at UW-Platteville, as an account examiner, retiring in September 1977. Eva was interested in art, and gave chalk talks in churches. Then in 1979 she and her husband took oil painting classes from Dawn Clark at Southwest Tech, Fennimore. They were members of the Lancaster Art Club and the Wisconsin Regional Arts Association (WRAA). They won many awards and in 1995 Eva’s painting of Geese was on the Wisconsin Traveling Art Show. Eva was a member of the WRAA, Jamison Museum, Lancaster Art Club, Wisconsin Historical Association, and Platteville Library Foundation. Eva loved painting, gardening, needlework, crocheting, hiking and reading. She taught Sunday school for 30 years.
She is survived by many cousins. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen, parents, Fred and Sophie Kettler, two brothers, Albert E. and George H. Kettler.
