Ethel Nagel, age 98 of Baraboo, Wisconsin passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side Friday, June 20, 2014 at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin with Reverend Dennis Schueler officiating. Burial will be at the Mauston City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Ethel was born October 19, 1915 in Des Plaines, Illinois the daughter of Carl and Katherine (Wetendorf) Salamann. In her early years she was a “traveling beautician” making home visits for hair appointments. In June of 1936 she married her childhood sweetheart, Warner Nagel in Berwyn, Illinois. They honeymooned at the Dellview Resort in Lake Delton and along with each other they also fell in love with the Dells. They owned the Blatz Beer Distributorship in Des Plaines until 1955 when she and Warner moved to the Dells area. Together in Lake Delton they built, owned and operated the SkyLine Motel, the Thunderbird Resort, and Pine Aire Motel and were partners in the Henny Penny Restaurant. Warner enjoyed carpentry and with this talent he installed church furniture and pews throughout the Midwest traveling together in their motorhome. She and Warner also enjoyed winter vacations and residing in Florida. Warner and Ethel were founding members of Trinity Lutheran Church School. Ethel also enjoyed playing bingo, needlework and crocheting.

Ethel is survived by a son, Bob (Barbara) Nagel of Baraboo; daughter, Bonnie (Les) Bremer of Lake Delton; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warner; daughter, Barbara Cook and a brother, Corky Salamann.
