Bonnie Melody Stone
Madison: Bonnie Melody Stone, age 66, passed away Sat. May 18, 2013 from a glioblastoma brain tumor after a fight lasting over 3 years. She outlived her original prognosis by over a year. Her lifestyle included a healthy diet and daily exercise so this affliction was most unfair.
Bonnie was born July 9, 1946 and spent her childhood in Madison and Cuba city WI. She graduated from U.W. Platteville with a degree in secondary education and majored in English and she later taught at Lancaster High School. She was then employed in a series of accounting departments and ultimately earned an MATC degree in computer programming after 10 years of night classes. She was subsequently employed by the State of Wisconsin in the Health and Social Service and then Motor Vehicle departments. She took great pride in producing "clean code" and in detecting and correcting flaws in the programs of others. She was widely admired by her co-workers for her patience in providing technical assistance.
She dearly loved her pussy cats including Scheherazade and Pyewacket and leaves behind Wizard and Sprite in the loving care of friends Karen and Joanie.
Bonnie had a beautiful singing voice and sang at weddings and in the choir of the First Unitarian Society. She also provided vocal concerts that were much appreciated by her fellow employees. She very much enjoyed musicals and dance performances and was a devoted fan of the UW Travel series which she shared with her good friend Peter. She composed many delightful limericks with which she entertained friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Drs. Grant and Mildred Stone and nephew, Barry Anderson. She is survived by 4 sisters, Kathleen McGee (Vernon), KK Anderson (Edward Kolner), Linda Stone and Rebecca Stone. She also leaves behind nephew, Jeffrey Anderson and his children, Xena and Valerie; nephew Damien Ready and niece Sierra Ready.
Memorials may be sent in Bonnie's name to Wis. Public Radio and WHA-TV. Arrangements for a private celebration of her life are pending. To view and sign this this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com.
