Madison-Anita L. Gaukel, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 13, 2013.

She was born on June 10, 1929 in Madison to Martin and Regina Gaukel. She attended and graduated from Central high school. For many years she worked as a secretary for the Dean of the College of Engineering at UW Madison. She was a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and she devoted her life to caring for her loved ones.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Robert and William Gaukel, and sisters Dorothy Gaukel and Marian Davenport.

She is survived by her nieces Karen (Bob) Harms, Diane (Kelly) Baryenbruch, Sandra (Tom) Mork and nephew John (Karie) Davenport; further survived by her 8 great-nieces and nephews Kristi Harms (Augie), Kelly (Rodney) Ryan, Michael, Daniel, Lindsay, Sierra and Jackson Davenport, Jordan Mork, and other relatives.

Anita will be dearly missed as she was a very caring and warm person who enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and especially her nieces and nephew, grand-nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the staff of Chamomile Assisted Living for the excellent care they gave to Anita.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at ST. PETERS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave. at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. Visitation will be held at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
