A block of a near east Madison street was closed Wednesday night as police investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
Officials said the crash was reported around 7:30 p.m. at 1018 Williamson St.
Witnesses told Madison police that the 38-year-old man had been seen walking erratically before he walked into the street. Police said the man lost his balance and fell, possibly hitting his head. He was struck while he was lying in the road.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with level one trauma injuries, police said.
Police said Thursday that his injuries were not considered life threatening.
Police on scene told News 3 the driver of the vehicle is being cooperative.
Investigators are looking into whether alcohol was a factor in the crash. One block of Williamson Street was temporarily shut down Wednesday night immediately after the incident, police said.
