The Dane County Board of Supervisors passed two pieces of legislation Thursday night that would preserve the county's communication with its union workers.
An amendment to the civil service ordinance was approve and creates an efficient process to approve conditions of employment.
A resolution passed approves the county's first employee benefit handbook.
The legislation is in the wake of Act 10, where collective bargaining was outlawed.
“Anyone who owns a business, any CEO, any head of government, who delivers services, who delivers a product will tell you that it’s vitally important that your employees are on board, that your employees feel that they’re an important part of what you’re doing,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi.
Parisi said he hopes that model is one that other counties around the state can follow.
