MONROE, Wis. -

A Monroe man was arrested on suspicion of numerous charges after his vehicle struck a utility pole, according to Monroe police.

Officers were called to 11th Street near State Highway 69 at 1:44 a.m. Friday for a report of a vehicle that had struck a utility pole and was leaving the scene. The utility pole was broken off and the wires were down.

The vehicle was found near 17th Street and 4th Avenue West and pulled over, police said.

The driver, Andrew P. Nesbitt, 32, was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. He was also cited on suspicion of hit-and-run to property adjacent to a highway, failure to notify police of an accident and failure to wear a seat belt.
