A Madison jewelry store was robbed by a couple that took two wedding bands and replaced them with cheaper versions, according to a release from Madison police.
An employee from Burnie’s Rock Shop at 901 E. Johnson St. told police a man and woman were looking at jewelry Sunday afternoon when the woman distracted her while the man took two rings.
The employee didn’t realize the two rings, valued at $1,750, were gone until the couple left the store.
The man is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall, bald and wearing a white and dark blue checkered shirt and longer dark shorts. The woman is described as black or Hispanic, 5 feet 3 inches tall with a light complexion and wearing a red shirt with a flower pattern and denim Capri pants.
The employee called other area jewelry stores to warn them about the thief’s tactics.
