Termites eat through woman's life savings
Chinese woman stored $65,000 in a plastic bag in a wooden drawer
Termites recently ate through a woman's life savings in China, robbing her of thousands of dollars.
The woman in Guangdong Province was given the 400,000 yuan by her children around six months ago, and kept it in a plastic bag in a wooden drawer at her home in Shunde, according to the Guangzhou Daily.
Four-hundred-thousand yuan is about $65,000 in U.S. dollars.
The woman didn't notice her money troubles until recently, when she went to retrieve some cash to redecorate her house, according to CCTV.
A local bank generously scanned and identified the remaining cash.
After a day's work, nearly 340,000 yuan or $55,454 was able to be identified, reducing her losses to about 60,000 yuan or $9,786.
Maybe this time she'll try saving her money in the bank.
