MADISON, Wis. -

A water fight in downtown Madison turned violent when a teenager who didn’t want to get wet attacked one of the participants, according to police.

Police said a group of adults and children were spraying each other with water guns at a park in the 100 block of State Street on Wednesday night.

A 17-year-old girl was among those on the side of the water fight who got wet, according to police. After getting squired, she said she didn’t want to get wet but was squirted again.

A 22-year-old Madison woman told police the teenager tried to grab one of the squirt guns and confronted her. The victim said she was then punched in the head, pulled to the ground by the hair and kicked in the face.

Delaraee S. Bell, 17, told police the victim swung at her first.

Bell was arrested on suspicion of battery.
