Bond has been set at $350,000 for a Kenosha man charged with killing his girlfriend and leaving her body in a vehicle near a Greyhound bus station in Chicago.
Forty-year-old Matthew A. McDowell was charged Tuesday with first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
The Kenosha News reports McDowell and his girlfriend, 30-year-old Erin Ziemendorf, argued over the weekend at his home in Kenosha.
According to the criminal complaint, McDowell told police he put his hands around Ziemendorf's neck, heard a cracking sound and found she wasn't breathing.
He then loaded her body in her car, drove to Chicago, parked the vehicle and took the train back to Kenosha.
