MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police arrested a man in connection with a sexual assault involving a firearm that occurred on Madison’s east side in May, according to a release.

Jumal Willie Jemison, 28, became the focus of the investigation for the sexual assault on Sinykin Circle, was named as a suspect in the crime, and eluded authorities until Tuesday, according to the release.

MPD detectives used a variety of investigative leads and alerted police in the Eau Claire area that Jemison could be in their jurisdiction, according to the release.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigations lead the West Central Drug Task Force investigators in Eau Claire to the 2100 block of Bracket Avenue where they located Jemison, according to the release.

Officials said a substantial amount of heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, a loaded semi-automatic pistol and cash were recovered during the search of Jemison and Zan Morgan, an associate of Jemison’s.

Jemison faces charges in the Eau Claire area but there are numerous warrants out of other jurisdictions, including Dane County, that Jemison will be facing in the future, according to the release.
