Sun Prairie Police say a threat made regarding a middle school in the city was found to not be credible, following an investigation by the department.

Police Sargeant Brian Luckus said the police department and the Dane County Sheriff’s Department received information about the possible threat at Cardinal Heights Middle School Sunday.

Lucks said in a statement that the threat was sent by text to one of the students at the school. Family members of the student contacted law enforcement. The text was circulated through social media and the police department received numerous calls regarding the text.

Luckus said officers were able to track the text to another juvenile, who admitted to sending the text only to one person as a prank. Officers determined the threat wasn’t credible and let school officials know about the text and their investigation.
