Monroe police say a man is in custody after a two-hour standoff with police Sunday morning.
Police said they responded to the home in the 2300 block of 16th Avenue multiple times Saturday night for domestic dispute issues. They were called to the home again at 7:08 a.m. when a woman called after fleeing the home.
The 26-year-old man inside the home allegedly displayed a handgun and the woman and two friends fled, officials said.
Lt. Mark Rohloff said officers set up a perimeter for public safety and started negotiating with the man. They also called neighboring houses to inform them of the situation and ask them to stay inside their homes.
The man eventually surrendered to police and is in custody, Rohloff said.
Police are working to obtain a search warrant to search the home for the weapon.
Rohloff said there is no threat to other residents in the neighborhood.
